“PM-Led UN Yoga Day Event to Witness Participation from Over 180 Countries”

PM Modi to lead Yoga Day 2023 celebrations with people from over 180 nations  at UN HQ - India Today

People from over 180 countries are set to participate in the upcoming United Nations Yoga Day event, which will be led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The event, scheduled to take place at the United Nations headquarters in New York, will witness the presence of eminent personalities from various fields such as diplomats, leaders, artists, cultural icons, academicians, and entrepreneurs.

According to sources, this year’s Yoga Day celebration holds special significance as Prime Minister Modi will be leading the event on a large scale. Participants from more than 180 countries will join him in the celebration, representing a global enthusiasm for the practice of yoga.

Prime Minister Modi’s visit to the United States will commence on June 20, marking his first state visit to the country. The visit will kick off in New York, where he will lead the International Day of Yoga celebrations at the United Nations Headquarters on June 21.

Following the Yoga Day event, the Prime Minister will travel to Washington D.C., where he will receive a ceremonial welcome at the White House on June 22. He is scheduled to meet President Joe Biden for further high-level discussions. A State Dinner will be hosted by President Biden and First Lady Jill Biden in honor of Prime Minister Modi on the same evening, highlighting the importance of the visit.

During his visit, Prime Minister Modi has also been invited to address a Joint Sitting of the US Congress on June 22, at the invitation of US Congressional Leaders. This will provide an opportunity for him to engage with American lawmakers and strengthen bilateral relations between India and the United States.

On June 23, the Prime Minister will attend a luncheon hosted by US Vice President Kamala Harris and Secretary of State Antony Blinken. In addition to official engagements, he is scheduled to have curated interactions with leading CEOs, professionals, and other stakeholders, as well as meet members of the Indian community residing in the United States.

The participation of people from diverse backgrounds and countries in the United Nations Yoga Day event reflects the global appeal and acceptance of yoga as a holistic practice for physical and mental well-being. The event not only promotes the importance of yoga but also serves as a platform for cultural exchange and unity among nations.
