“Opposition Gains Momentum as AAP Joins Bengaluru Meeting Following Congress’ Stand Against Centre’s Ordinance”

Meta Description: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) announces its participation in the Opposition’s meeting in Bengaluru after the Congress expresses its opposition to the Centre’s ordinance on control of services in Delhi. The meeting aims to unite the Opposition against the Bharatiya Janata Party ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha election.

In a significant development, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has decided to attend the Opposition’s meeting scheduled in Bengaluru on Monday and Tuesday. This decision comes in the wake of the Congress party’s clear stand against the Centre’s ordinance concerning control of services in Delhi. AAP Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha made the announcement after the party’s Political Affairs Committee (PAC) meeting held in the national capital on Sunday.

Raghav Chadha stated, “The Congress party today made its stand clear and said that it will oppose the Delhi ordinance. We welcome the decision… The AAP will join the joint opposition meeting in Bengaluru on July 17-18.”

The PAC meeting, attended by prominent AAP leaders including Gopal Rai and Atishi, took place at the residence of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. Earlier on Sunday, Raghav Chadha had acknowledged the Congress’ “unequivocal opposition” to the Centre’s ordinance, describing it as a positive development.

The Congress, represented by its General Secretary KC Venugopal, stated that the party will oppose any move by the Centre to intervene in states ruled by opposition parties through governors. The Congress has also affirmed its decision to oppose the Delhi ordinance in Parliament when a bill on the matter comes up.

Congress leader Pawan Khera emphasized the party’s consistent opposition to any attempt to undermine the federal structure. He mentioned instances where the Congress opposed similar actions by governors in different states. Pawan Khera stated, “In that manner, the Congress party will oppose the ordinance in Delhi.”

The Opposition meeting in Bengaluru aims to foster unity among various political parties to collectively challenge the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha election. Notably, leaders from approximately 24 political parties are expected to attend the gathering.

This Bengaluru meeting follows a significant opposition gathering held in Patna, Bihar, on June 23. The AAP had requested the Congress to clarify its stance on the Centre’s ordinance, which pertains to the transfer and posting of group-A officers in Delhi. The participation of AAP in the meeting marks a significant step toward strengthening the collective opposition front against the ruling party.

As political dynamics continue to evolve, the joint efforts of opposition parties in forging alliances and common strategies are likely to shape the political landscape in the coming years. The upcoming Bengaluru meeting serves as a platform for Opposition leaders to engage in dialogue, exchange ideas, and work toward a cohesive approach in challenging the BJP’s dominance in the upcoming national elections.
